Victorian Italian Enamel Portrait Necklace | 9k Gold & Glass Paste Drops, Spadafora c.1890s
Antique necklace hand crafted with solid 9k gold, enamels and paste stones.
By Spadafora, Italy late 19th Century.
This rare Italian necklace was crafted in the late 1800s by the renowned goldsmith Spadafora, whose creations are celebrated and documented in specialist jewelry publications, including "Collezione ori antichi famiglia Spadafora" (shown in the pictures).
Made in 9k gold, the necklace is composed of a series of finely pierced, openwork oval links with geometric motifs, all joined together with meticulous craftsmanship. At its center hangs a pendant panel, measuring approximately 28 x 28 mm (1.10 x 1.10 inches), decorated with engraving and adorned with a hand-painted enamel portrait of a young lady. The miniature portrait depicts a blonde woman dressed in pink.
Suspended from the central element are three articulated drops set with clear glass pastes.
The necklace closes with its original antique clasp, integrated seamlessly into the openwork link chain, a detail that underscores both artistry and functionality.
Total length: 41 cm (about 16.1 inches).
Weight: 8.7 grams.
Very good antique condition with minimal wear consistent with age.
