Antique Victorian Gold Cased Heart Fob Pendant: White Chalcedony

Antique fob made with cased gold and white chalcedony.
Datable to the end of 1800s, Victorian age.

The soft, heart-like shape is an unusual and particularly charming detail, especially if made with a white chalcedony. The metalwork has a rococo-style scrollwork, with a blank cartouche on the side, likely intended for a monogram or family crest.

Gold-cased fobs were popular as more affordable alternatives to solid gold pieces, making them accessible to the middle class-a concept that remains just as relevant today.
Watch fobs would have originally been worn on a pocket watch chain, used for sealing wax on letters and documents; today they can be worn as charms or pendants, as you can see from the pictures.
