Antique Italian 18k Gold Turquoise Ring, Bourbon Period c.1840 Victorian Ring

Antique Italian ring, datable to the Bourbon period (circa 1840-50), crafted in solid 18k gold and richly decorated with turquoise cabochons and enamel.

At its centre sits a raised circular gold plaque, finely chased with a floral motif, and the shank, is fully worked all around.

US size: 5 1/4

Weight: 5.2 grams

15,2 mm at its largest point.

There are no hallmarks, tested as at least 18k gold.

At some point in its long life, the ring was professionally resized to a smaller size: this was achieved by adding gold inserts on the inside of the shank, which are clearly visible and have the effect of making the band thicker and more substantial.
