Antique French Music Jewelry Box: Vervelle Audot, Mother of Pearl Inlay

Antique musical jewelry box made of wood with mother of pearl inlay and blue silk lining.
Datable to ca. 1890-1920, Belle Epoque era.

This outstanding antique French box was made by Vervelle Audot, renowned cabinet maker in mid 19th century Paris.

The proportion and the attention to detail are, indeed, remarkable.

By winding the music box with the little knob on the bottom, opening the lid turns on the music. At the center of the cartouche on the lid, is engraved the name "Marie".
Complete with key, perfectly working.

Measures: 25 x 9 x h 5 cm (9.8 x 3.5 x 2 inches).

Facts (from the web):
Jean-Francois Vervelle founded the firm of Maison Vervelle in 1804 and went on to exhibit at the Paris Expositions of 1827 and 1844 as well as at the Paris Exposition Univeselle in 1855.
The Decorative Arts Museum in Paris has several of the firm's furniture drawings.

Very good antique condition. One of the corner is dented (shown in detail, priced accordingly).
