Antique Watch Box, Mother-of-Pearl Inlay, Blue Silk Interior, Jewellery Display Prop
Antique watch box, dating to the Victorian era (circa 1880–1900).
This exquisite box is crafted in richly toned wood, with a geometric mother-of-pearl inlay to the lid. The pattern is hypnotic, with its three-dimensional trompe-l’œil effect, and the mother-of-pearl displays beautiful, lively shades of pink and green.
The interior is lined in blue silk and velvet, with a fitted compartment designed to hold a pocket watch securely.
The proportions are compact and well balanced, with softly rounded corners and a warm patina developed over time.
The brass push-button closure adds a discreet functional detail.
Originally intended as a pocket watch box, it can be used to store pendants or small treasures. It also lends itself beautifully as a refined display prop for jewellery photography.
Measures: ca. 58.5 x 76 x 43 mm
Very good antique condition. The interior silk shows signs of age and wear, and there is a visible age-related crack to the wood, consistent with its period. The inlay remains well preserved.
