Antique Victorian Burl Walnut Jewelry Box: Blue Tufted Silk Interior
Antique jewelry box made with burl walnut and marquetry inlay.
Mid-to-late 1800s (Victorian era).
A medium size jewelry box with an intricate inlay.
The center medallion, floral scrollwork and the white frame are a mix of light wood (possibly sycamore or bone), darker woods, and ebony-like accents, typical of Victorian-era design. The octagonal base with round feet suggests it was meant to rest elegantly on a vanity or dresser.
It is lined inside with blue tufted silk with button detailing, meant to cushion delicate items like rings or brooches.
Complete with working key.
Measures: ca 6.3 x 4 x H 3.5 inches (16 x 10 cm x H 9 cm)
Very good antique condition, with well-preserved glossy finish and silk lining intact. Small negligible signs of wear that demonstrate its authenticity.
