Antique 58" Silver & Rose Gold Long Guard Chain: Edwardian Art Deco Muff Chain
Antique long guard chain handcrafted with solid silver and rose gold filled elements.
Datable to the late 1800s, early 1900s.
Long guard chains were traditionally used to hold watches, keys, or lockets, making them both functional and decorative. Today they can be used as standalone necklaces or layered with other pieces.
This piece is particularly beautiful, in my opinion, with its extra length and the small geometric accents in rose gold. The tiny cubes and spheres intersperse the silver chain with great lightness and elegance. Very versatile, as you can see in the photos it can be styled with two or three turns, you can attach pendants and charms. I personally adore these chains, they are a passepartout of sure effect with any outfit (I am a fashion coward who only wears basic black, but throwing one of these on before going out instantly elevates an otherwise bland look!)
The clip does not open. Given the length, it is not necessary to open it in order to wear it. I believe it was designed this way, not a defect.
Hallmarked "800" and tested as silver.
Length: ca. 58.6 inches (149 cm)
Weight: 17.8 grams
Very good antique condition, with signs of time and use to be expected in an antique piece of jewelry.
