Antique 18k Gold Enamel Miniature Brooch with Rose Cut Diamonds
Antique brooch hand-crafted in solid 18k gold, natural diamonds and enamel.
Late 19th century to early 20th century.
This truly exquisite brooch features a beautifully hand-painted 18th-century-style lady, rendered in luminous vitreous enamel on gold. The woman is dressed in a rose-pink gown, with powdered hair and (most astonishingly!) she is depicted wearing jewellery herself. Nine natural rose-cut diamonds are delicately set in her hair and at her neckline, enhancing the miniature with subtle sparkle.
The miniature is framed by a solid 18k gold mount with engraved borders, crafted in a domed, gently protruding cupola-style setting, giving the brooch depth, presence, and a sculptural quality.
Diameter: 35 mm x 9.9 mm
Weight: 10.8 grams
The diamonds have an estimated weight of ca. 0.20 ct
Miniature enamel portraits were among the most sophisticated forms of jewellery ever produced, combining the skills of a painter, enameller and goldsmith in a single object. The addition of rose-cut diamonds elevates this piece into true haute joaillerie of its time.
Excellent antique condition. Please refer to the pictures and video as they are part of the description, and feel free to reach out with any questions.
